Leo mercury + 6H, she’s a perfectionist and has such a creative, intelligent and confident mind. she’s PRACTICAL and knows her worth -describing a friend-.
Uranus/Neptune retrograde could mean struggle to exit a toxic group, “friends”.
Mercury retrograde not necessarily represents obvious or visible problems/conditions with speaking, stutter or dyslexia, etc. I’ve noticed they could seem rude, too direct, not diplomatic, they could have difficulties explaining themselves. they could generalize often or they don’t ask about certain things bc they’re ashamed.
when your mars is in their 2H you feel so comfortable with them. in other words, the other day I hooked up with the person I share this synastry and I felt incredibly comfortable, seeing each others naked and don’t feel ashamed or judged. idk it’s funny to me, I’ve never felt that way -casual situation-, like I could even fart and he won’t even judge. too explicit I’m sorry 😭. I’m gonna stop with the mars 2H synastry
I’ve read a lot of comments about black moon in lilith 7H that says they could be part of a 3rd party or be “the other women”. I have that placement in my natal chart and already a couple of times my friends who end up a 2 year relationship propose me to be their sneaky link. also, it could mean that the girlfriends/ boyfriends/partners of your friends could be jealous of you, the Lilith 7H person.
9H stellium in solar return signifies improvement, learning, to expand your horizons, to start a new period of high/education/learning.
in this whole period of time I’ve learned about my needs and how to communicate them (Chiron 3H in solar return): for example, I’ve seen people and I wanted something casual but didn’t know how to make myself understood. I didn’t even know what I wanted, so I’ve learned it during this period. It doesn’t count only in situationship stuff, it’s an example.
Uranus 4H in Solar Return: yes, it doesn’t mean you’ll end up moving to another country. I’ve seen a CHANGE in my family dynamic. believe me, if my “me” from one year ago observes my family dynamic now, she would be SHOCKED.
Solar return mars conjunct Part of Fortune: yes, I’ve been 🤓📚🫦
Solar moon square uranus: I was a good girl all that time 🥰 I was suffering, struggling so hard so things will be in order, pretty and diplomatic… My feelings and ideas didn’t match what I usually used to do: do whatever I want (uranus ruled). I wanted but my subconscious was telling me to keep calm so all the trust or time i gave to build that environment won’t be wasted. then, unintentionally, I broke that diplomatic environment after my birthday. it felt really good, like it was me again😩
natal saturn 1H why so conservative and traditional? I’m not affirming is a bad thing but this placement often behaves exaggeratedly, too disciplined/formal. they could be too focused on what should be and how things should work instead of appreciating the whole situation. they could end up judging others too much, evidencing the amount of criticism they have on themselves.
pluto 9H not everything has to do with politics. -yes and no, it’s debatable-. my point is, relax, sometimes life it’s not how you wanted to be. let things be🧘♀️
Lilith (mean) 5H you were the experiment of your parents, don’t you?
Node trine Jupiter tells me you can overcome challenges in your life even if you have a lot of chiron aspects in your natal chart 😭 idk if it’s understandable. What I mean is that the universe has your back, this aspect goes through deep experiences that have the previous mentioned effects on them.
Ascendant - Mercury aspects: job that has to do with communication 🤪 too obvious but I’ve noticed. lawyer, publicity, etc.
sun opposition sun synastry: opposites attracts.
pluto opposition juno natal tells me you have to work first on yourself to enter a relationship, to solve those control issues. also meaning that if you didn’t work on yourself, you could have being the one directing the relationship.

look i just need more people to talk about Sandrock with
I started playing My Time at Sandrock about two months ago. I'm a cozy game veteran (not to shameful-brag but I have over 1k hours in SDV on Steam alone -- sorry fellas, I'm taken) and I even played My Time at Portia for a couple hundred hours after it came out. (My review was always "it's fine, don't pay full price".) But I can't remember a game that has both simultaneously captivated me while also contributing to an overall improvement in the quality of my actual IRL life. (My actual in real life life, yes.)
Anyway here are way too many thoughts about why I love this game.
My Time at Sandrock fits the cozy gameplay loops we come to expect from the genre: you move to a new place, start out small, make some friends, gather a frankly alarming amount of raw materials, etc. But whereas games like Stardew Valley or Coral Island have that gameplay loop mostly centered around your farm (with some later quests to improve the community), Sandrock's gameplay feels more like an RPG: you get actual main story quests, it's just instead of killing a monster you have to construct a bridge. (Although you do sometimes kill monsters.) This does mean you can fail missions, but I never really felt any pressure to get them done in time.
The game does the expected nightly autosave while also allowing for manual saves. This means I have a built-in regular checkpoint to break the ADHD hyperfocus cycle: am I done playing for the day? Do I need to use the bathroom? With a regular RPG/MMORPG, there's literally nothing that'll feel like a stopping spot and I end up playing fewer hours of video games overall when I play a cozy game. But since there are manual saves as well, it also means that in a pinch I can just save wherever the hell I am and exit out.
The game has a desert setting which is absolutely breathtaking (pictures below), and one of the core mechanics is conserving water. This means that I've tricked my brain into taking a sip of water any time it's mentioned in the game. I did not know what it felt like to be properly hydrated.
Sandrock also feels more unique because the world really changes as you play. Yeah, I know you get the Community Center and the theater in Stardew, but the Community Center just results in Shane being unemployed and Clint being even MORE useless, and by the time the theater is out, I've basically maxed out whatever relationships I wanted to max out anyway. But in Sandrock, you literally build a bridge or fix up a railway station and then those changes persist in the game. It's not just big things -- I had a romance mission to make a stack of rocks (long story), and the stack of rocks persisted after that event. Even after I broke up with that character and fell for another person, that heart sculpture was just there.
And driving all these changes in the environment is a story that is ridiculously complex and unexpected, all set in a "cheery post-apocalyptic" world. And I DESPERATELY NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE PLOT WITH PEOPLE OK, I want someone to play through this game and then send me a DM with their reactions.

ok i've rambled enough, thank you for coming to my beth talk

Hi! Happy birthday! (If it still is in your timezone, and if it's not - happy belated birthday!)
Seeing your latest post, i wanted to tell you how much your fics, comics and art in general changed my life.
Reading your fics got me through the hardest times of my life. It's written to a degree so high it's astonishing. No fic i have ever read has made me feel the way yours did. Each and every one of them - even the unfinished ones - are so important. To me and so many others who have read them.
The things you write about, the angsty, sad and angry parts of life many are afraid of - they make processing the accidents that happened in your readers' lives so much better. Reading the characters letting their feelings out, reading them talk about the harsh truths, is what makes doing it in real life so much easier. It makes it less frightening.
Through your fics i learned how to communicate so many problems and difficulties in the last two years of my life, i genuinely don't think i would be alive today without them.
Your art has made a place in my heart at least 3 years ago. Your art has been a lighthouse in a dark, dark ocean. Always saving the lives of so many.
Your art-style, your comics, are some of my favorites. It's so beautiful, and it's so delicate - every detail perfected to a fault. The plot in your comics is, in my opinion, on par with the plot of your fics. Every plot twist is masterfully crafted, each word impactful. The characters never lacking in any way.
Your effort is showing in ever comic page, in every new chapter of your fics. It's been a pleasure to follow your art for so long, seeing the new things you tried. It's never invisible, never wasted. The thought you put into every single piece of any form of art is appreciated, and very viable.
Your art is never going to be replaced as long as people buy and read it, and i know it's never going to be replaced because i am one of those people. I will always be exited to see your url on my notifications, never mind the state i'm in or how uninterested i am in the fandom at that point in time.
Your art saves lives, and it's not going to stop doing that. Never.
Thank you for continuously putting out your art, even at times when you felt like giving up on it.
I hope this made you feel a little better about yourself in that regard. Your existence itself, and not just the art you put out, is important and appreciated. By many. Please never stop doing what you love as long as it's not hurting you.
I had to sit on this message for a bit just to process it.
Now, I think I want to say three things in response.
This is incredibly meaningful and the fact that you took the time to type this all out means the world to me.
I hope that you are okay. Obviously since this is posted anonymously, I cannot reach out to you directly or privately, but learning how to process emotions and communicate issues is such a tough road sometimes. It's one I'm learning to do, myself, and I am so happy to hear that you are learning what works for you. Progress might not feel like it's there at times, but it is there, I promise.
Everything that's been written here should be validating for anyone who writes or reads fan content. Personally, I have always written stories that hold personal importance to me, and I know I am not alone. A lot of people use fanfiction as not only an escape but as a means of catharsis. It feels more personal, in a way, than some traditionally publishes books or widely available shows/movies. And it makes sense because people aren't writing about things that will do well in the market at the time, they are writing about things they truly want to write about. Things that often hold deep, emotional meaning to them, and they are simply using the form of already established characters to convey those things. Creating fanfiction can often feel like something not to be taken seriously (and, to be fair, there are those who truly just do it for fun). But I know I need to remember — and others probably need to remember, too — that you never know who might find your story at the exact time they need to read it. You never know how much these things might stick with someone, or what they could mean to someone other than yourself. Thank you for reminding me that even though these fan creations aren't taken seriously by so many, the chance that they might actually have an impact on even one person is the thing that matters.

Another thread from Mei Amaki, translator of MGD
"Magical Girl Dandelion ch.10 is tomorrow! Which means it's time to talk about the translation again to celebrate the imminent update...!!
Key:
TL = translation/translate
LIT = literal translation
/ = new speech bubble)
This isn't groundbreaking, but ちゃんと, the word for "properly" in JP can be really hard to TL naturally in EN. The LIT here would be "I want to talk to you properly." One way I often handle this word is by using "properly" as emphasis. Hence "talk to you--REALLY talk to you."
LIT: "You look like a zombie" / "A zombie?!" Sometimes, it's better to not have a character parrot back a line like this in the TL. Not only can it be a little bit stiff in EN, but in this case where the bubble is small, the poor letterer would have to cram it in.....
Thankfully, an "um?!" expresses Tanpopo's shock succinctly while doing away with any repetitiveness. A note that JP loves to repeat words like this, and it sounds great in JP, but EN has a much lower tolerance for repetition--another "failing" of the language, I suppose.😅
LIT: "It can't be helped." Again, thinking about the context. What cannot be helped? The fact that Tanpopo is too tired to fight and so Shade knows he needs to help her a little. Why is she too tired to fight? Because she's fighting for her life in an almost unwinnable situation.
Based on that, I thought the shortened version of the phrase "desperate times call for desperate measures" would be nice. I thought shortening it would better communicate Shade's usual irreverence, but also, this shortened phrase letters prettier xP.
More on Alice's voice. In the flashback, he just sounds like a normal boy. He's not yet stepped into his "Alice" persona here! (Another TL technique--not always translating names. Because JP has a higher tolerance for repetition, names get repeated more often too.
The LIT would be: "Dad! Mom! Thank goodness!" But since Alice says their names on the next page, I thought 3 times in a row was a bit too many for EN. So, we think about what is actually happening in the scene, and for me, that was the fact that he "thinks" he isn't lost anymore.
Alice starts talking all British here! It's reflected in the JP too, since we go from casual, childish words to formal JP. However, from the moment the flashback starts, any internal narration of his I wrote "straight." The farce is exposed--March Hare was never sentient.
So it made sense to me to not write Alice British anymore from the point that all was revealed. Even after we exit the flashback, he retains the "straight" character voice. This is something that's more in the EN TL than in the JP, by the way.
Since, again, JP cannot write a British accent, it's up to me as the translator to decide how long to use it. It made sense to use it before we got to Alice's backstory, before all is revealed and we see him for who he is--a trapped, lonely, vulnerable boy.
From this point, he feels closer to his "non-fiend/true" self, so I opted to strip away the accent here to mirror this shift in the storytelling.
I think this panel is my favorite TL of Dandelion so far. It's not because it's a creative solution, because it's not. I think the scene just impacted me on an emotional level. As a translator, I love to read, and I love to experience my emotions as I read and translate things.
This panel is basically Tanpopo's raison d'être as a magical girl--why she fights! I am sure it will set the ground work for future chapters. Not to mention Mizuho-sensei's beautiful expression work. The look on Tanpopo's face even now makes me want to cry with her.
I think it's just my favorite translation because translating it was so fun--even if I did nothing smart and just spoke the words that were already on the page--perfect as they were. That's another thing--I personally don't think every translation needs to be a super-smart solution. Sometimes the JP translates directly into TL perfectly. And it's in those times that I won't try to "breakdance," because there is no need. So yeah! That's it! I may be the translator, but I'm not any less of fellow reader than any other MGD fan!! I don't get told how the story will go, so I don't have more knowledge than the readers do, either! So, like all of you, I can't wait to see where things go! MGD is shaping up to be a wonderful story, and with Mizuho-sensei's confident, jaw-dropping art, it's eye candy all the way down".

Learning F1 Race Strategy from Former Ferrari, Haas and Alfa Romeo Strategist Ruth Buscombe! – a summary
i love Ruth so i finally made time to watch this interview (she absolutely floored those guys) and made notes for anyone who doesn't have 2 hours of their day to spend on this
youtube
she got Seb his first win for Ferrari
she loves Netflix
she uses racing language in her life since her partner is in F1 too
she only ever worked in F1 (started in Ferrari)
she liked sports as a kid, played soccer but probably wasn't too good
her dad was a big McLaren fan
she liked maths at school and was a strange kid and got bullied for it
did masters thesis in collab with FIA focused on DRS because she specialised on thermal and aerospace
she believes she was the only person who got skinny after moving to italy because she has moving sickness, so she threw up basically every day
got headhunted by Ferrari after school
she was excited about porpoising coming back to f1 in 2022 with the new regs, because she did a project on it
she was a McLaren fan, always wanted to get hired by McLaren, got into Ferrari by accident, went to the interview only as a free trip to Ferrari and took it as practice for her McLaren interview
they took her out for dinner afterwards and carbs are way to her heart, everything was so fancy ("even the soap at the bathroom")
McLaren wasn’t cool, just old and grey
didn’t even tell her father she went to Ferrari at first because she was afraid
Ferrari was her home and also a benchmark that she compares everything to now
in 2016 she joined Sauber and the finances were handled completely differently
as a strategist, they have points when they know if they have time to make a decision, they can check with others, sometimes they can make decisions on their own under time pressure (so if they are in s1 and pit entry is in s3 they know they have time to check with everyone first for example)
she worked with Fred for years in Sauber, if they made a mistake, they explained after, but Fred is very expressive facially so they knew immediately
Fred doesn’t add fuel to the pitwall, he doesn’t get in their way at all
she worked with wide range of drivers that operated differently (some like info before the race, some in the middle, Kimi didn’t like too much radio)
with Charles in his debut year 2018, he did a little reminders where she told him which plan and he repeated what the plan means
in her strategy team, she would have Seb (knows a lot), Max (does a lot with tyres), Lando (gamer, can do typing quickly) and Fernando (can find grey areas in rules)
her fave strategy is plan C in Monaco which is rainy strategy going from wets to slicks and they scored points (as the only car going from outside of points into points) with Valtteri this year (or was it last?)
sometimes you also come up with wacky strategy
best in in laps/outlaps is Lewis for her
este takes blue flags the worst, marcus ericsson is the blue flag champion, valtteri had to practice blue flags since he came from a top team and almost didn't see any
played a lot of poker since there is some maths in it
she is a sore loser and very competitive, she cannot have fun when playing board games, everyone hates her when she plays so she is banned from it
she goes to gym every day so she has to do laundry often
on her to do list she likes to cross out the hard tasks first, then the easy ones
if your pitwall is near the pit exit, there is a lot of dust on your skin by the end of the day so sometimes you shower twice a day
under stress your heartbeat goes higher so she does training to tackle this and learn not to make decisions under stress
a lot of people fainted around qatar, she didn’t and was very proud
her job is about 50% maths and 50% communication
she wanted vegas gp since 2013, next she would like Long Beach
she would change safety car delta to make the pitting decision 50/50 worth of risk or reward whereas now everyone pits
if a strategist loses a race by being undercut one race, there is a big chance they will get overcut the next one
ther is a group of people in the strategy department because you could be too predictable as a person (for example you could use the same strategy for the same track every year)

howdy! today i wanna talk about the aac system i use and go over how i use it
im currently using the app Coughdrop on an Amazon Kindle Fire 7. the version from 2022 i believe, which i think is the most recent. it was the least expensive new tablet i could get.
it's in a foam case that looks like Spiderman! i chose all black because it's unobtrusive and goes with my aesthetic but it was also available in red with black eyes and some other colors

i currently use a board called vocal flair 112. i previously used quick core 112 and this is similar, but has a built in on screen keyboard. which means i get less buttons on the home page but it's fine because i found myself pulling up the keyboard frequently to fill in the gaps even with that many buttons.
here's a screenshot, i haven't edited this page, i just use it as the default:
i don't actually make it speak aloud often when im out in public. the person with me who's supporting me (usually my mom) reads my screen if i need to talk to someone else. this is almost purely out of anxiety. the fear that someone will not hear me the first time, that they wont listen or won't understand, that someone will overhear a robotic voice and stare, etc. but it's an improvement over my previous method of texting my mom, pointing at menus, and mumbling or whispering until i either gave up or she finally managed to hear me.
i use this feature in coughdrop to have her read the screen:
it's found under the "repeats" section. it makes a large button you can press to voice the selection or you can have someone else read it.
i also quickly wanted to show my two "advocacy" boards. one is a premade board that ive edited and the second is made by me from scratch. i think im going to combine them eventually, but ive been lazy about it
these don't reflect my current "public use" pronouns, but that's fine.
my speech has always been pretty intermittent and unreliable in some situations, but more recently ive experienced some skill regression that makes it harder than ever to use verbal speech. even when relaxed and comfortable, typing or using aac is easier for me. and when even slightly stressed or overwhelmed or even overly happy or excited, it's very hard to impossible to get any words out.
im hoping to get better about actually using the voice feature instead of showing people my screen. the only time ive ever actually used aac to communicate with a stranger i showed them my screen. i have a lot of anxiety about not being heard which im sure comes from the fact that my voice doesn't always work and that's pretty scary at times. it seems im both afraid of not being heard and being heard but being made fun of or dismissed. im not sure what would be worse.
anyway, sorry for the anxiety tangent.
im hoping to get a strap for the case soon so it's easier to carry around. i tend to have several things with me at all times, my phone, talker, Nintendo switch, my small backpack, and a stim toy or comfort item. it's nice when i manage to cut back on what im carrying and it works out well, but sometimes i just need all those things to get through a situation.
i don't actually own the coughdrop app. im using a free version. it times out after about 15 minutes and you have to exit and enter again, as well as other premium features not being available. i was hoping to eventually save up for it but the price has increased recently to the point where it is out of my budget. maybe if i get a job eventually? even then im not sure if i can justify the cost. the monthly price also went up, which sucks. c'est la vie.
if you have any questions at all, im happy to try to answer! inbox or ask box or reblogs or anything works.
thanks for reading!

Day Twenty-Five: A Day in the Life of the Other Jim Thompson
There are those who say I lack the ability to be spontaneous. Or perhaps they'll admit that I can be spontaneous as long as every detail of my spontaneity is carefully planned and approved at least three months in advance. But to these naysayers, I say, “Ha! Let today be proof you couldn’t be more wrong.”
I awoke in Chiang Mai with every intention of calling today’s entry “Repositioning #5” because that was the agenda set for the day: “Transfer by private car without guide from your hotel to the Airport to take a flight to Bangkok (10h10-11h35). Upon arrival at the Airport, please head to the exit gate and look for your driver who will be waiting for you, holding a welcome signboard with your name on it. Then, you will be transferred to your hotel in town by a private vehicle.”
The transfer to the airport and then the flight to Bangkok went according to plan. But then I met my local guide, Rich (or maybe Mr. Rich; I’m not sure whether “Rich” is a personal name, a family name, or merely a pseudonym; I expect the latter), a really friendly young man with an almost Cambodian permanent smile and a love of laughter. While we were waiting for the car, he said, “I have a suggestion. Your hotel room won’t be ready for several hours yet. You are scheduled to visit the Jim Thompson House on your last day. Why not visit it today instead? Then we’ll go get lunch. By that time you could check in.”
That idea sounded terrific to me, so off we set in a midday Bangkok traffic jam to reach the Jim Thompson House.

Now, I have wanted to see this house since long before I ever thought I’d actually travel to Thailand, and I wanted to do so for the silliest possible reason. Back when I was a graduate student and a newly-minted college professor, one of my preferred means of relaxation were to read “noir,” hard-boiled mystery novels like The Killer Inside Me, The Getaway, A Hell of a Woman, and The Criminal. The author of all these novels was Jim Thompson. So, when I discovered that Jim Thompson lived much of his life in Bangkok, disappeared under unusual circumstances, and lived in a place sometimes referred to as The Jim Thompson Mystery House … well, that was a place that intrigued me.
There was only one problem, however.
The Jim Thompson who wrote the novels and the Jim Thompson whose house is in Bangkok were two entirely different people.
The owner of the house was an architect who worked for the OSS (the predecessor of the CIA) during World War II. One of his last intelligence assignments was in Bangkok, and he fell in love with the city. He decided to live here permanently. Then, discovering that the cottage industry of making Thai silk was about to die out, he became fascinated with the fabric and the designs often printed on it. He took samples to New York and showed them to friends of his who edited fashion magazines, and they began to feature Thai silk in some of their designs.
Thompson’s big break came when “The King and I” was first a hit on Broadway and then made into a movie. All of Yul Brynner’s elaborate costumes were made of “Jim Thompson silk,” and the former architect/former spy now had a third career: fabric merchant. As his wealth increased, he bought six houses (four from Ayutthaya, the former capital of Siam/Thailand, and two from the Muslim community of weavers just across the river in Bangkok who wove his cloth) and joined them together into an East-meets-West mansion on the banks of one of the klongs (canals) of the Chao Phraya River.
All was well and good until Thompson took a vacation to the Cameron Highlands of Malaysia in 1967. Then, on March 26, he went out for a short walk … and was never seen again. The cause of his disappearance (and presumed death) remains a mystery. Some say he was kidnapped and then murdered, a random victim of a random crime. Others say he was still doing espionage work and was investigating something to do with the war in Vietnam, causing himself to be killed by an enemy agent.
And that, you have to admit, is a far more mysterious ending than that of the author Jim Thompson who simply died of a stroke at the age of 70 in 1977 after a lifetime of alcoholism.
The architect/spy/fabric exporter Jim Thompson, on the other hand, had filled him home with Thai art, such as this rare wooden Buddha (most Thai Buddhas are bronze)

and this sandstone Buddha.

He also collected ceramic works, like these pots that have no lid:

They are actually filled through a hole at the bottom.

Like the Confucius Cup in Hoi An, it's the level of the liquid itself that keeps it from running back out through the bottom. The claim is that, without a lid, the contents don’t oxidize as quickly and thus remain fresher longer.
Thompson’s dining room table consisted of two Chinese gaming tables set side by side.

His living room is open and spacious, looking like the perfect place to relax and read a novel by the other Jim Thompson.

His bedroom is set off from the rest of the house by a set of doors that once led into a pawnbroker’s shop.

In his bedroom are two horoscopes. The one on the left is his birth horoscope. The one on the right is (reportedly) a prediction that something sinister would occur when he was 61 years old. He was born in 1906 and disappeared in 1967, so …
His bedroom was simple and elegant.

Traditional Thai houses are built on stilts to protect the furnishings from flooding. Today the area beneath the house, which would have been plain in Thompson’s time, is decorated for visitors like me.

At the end of the tour, Rich suggested that we get sandwiches in the Jim Thompson Cafe. There were four sandwiches on the menu, and I ordered the ham and cheese. Unfortunately, the cafe was out of everything except tuna salad, so Rich said, “How about a tuna salad sandwich?”
You would think that, with all the plays I acted in earlier in my life, I could better conceal my emotions. But frankly, my face is often a dead giveaway for whatever I’m thinking even when I believe I’m being perfectly composed. So, less than a second after asking this question, Rich said, “Okay. We can find another place.”
Apparently, Rich can be spontaneous, too.

Hey, not to be "that guy" but idk if the only reason Trump won Oklahoma is because Natives were disenfranchised.

Source: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-elections/exit-polls
Now, that poll was only in 10 states, but it was 10 key swing states, meaning these were the people whose votes actually kinda mattered, and they voted more conservative than the white folk. Even this larger study looking at house district votes found that only 56% of Native Americans voted for Democrats. That's about on-par with swing state college grads, at 55%, and is lower than both Latinos at 64% and Asians at 66%.
Like most POC groups, Native Americans are not a monolith who vote lock-step for Democrats. There is a lot of conservative Natives, because a lot of marginalized people will vote against their own self interest if they lack the education to know who is actually out there working to improve conditions. There's also a lot of conservative Natives because racism, homophobia, transphobia, and general distain for poor people exist in Native communities too. Here's a recent study showing New Mexico Natives value things such as 'self-determination,' 'libertarianism,' and 'Reaganism.'
(Yes, they specifically said "Reaganism")
Yes, racist gerrymandering exists, and yes, racism hurts education outcomes in reservations, but these places are not that much more liberal than they look. Solving gerrymandering won't make Oklahoma blue unless it comes too with good civics education that teaches people how to understand politics, and a societal expectation of broadening horizons which encourages people to meet those who challenge their preconceived notions. This is not just a story of these poor disenfranchised Natives who are too poor or uneducated or systemically punished to vote for Democrats, which is frankly kind of a demeaning narrative to push. This is a story of a multifaceted group who have faced historic oppression, but are not themselves defined by it and do choose of their own free will to sometimes vote for conservatives and bigots.
On a personal note, I grew up 15 minutes from the Choktaw reservation, and regularly saw huge Trump signs when driving through it. But I also saw their health center open its doors to nearby white communities when the Covid Vax came out, because the reservation had a surplus and the nearby communities had none. No group is a monolith. So maybe before you go calling folk racist for a post that is calling out rightly how conservative policies harm their constituencies, you do a bit of your own digging, and don't assume all folk of one race vote the way you want them to.
#im not a trump voter btw#i voted kamala#but i am someone with a personal connection and interest in Texoma regional politics#and you happened to make a broad assumption about a group of people#i care dearly about

I've seen like at least 2-3 tweets recently of people complaining about (or observing) the skgy/gyky ao3 tag not updating much these days and (1) folks are probably already aware that writing takes time and IRL stuff happens that delay finishing projects and (2) by all means... YOU can change that... YOU can write fics or social media AUs or etc... Especially @ those active accounts with threads of story/AU ideas... you got the outline, just spend some time putting it together with proper punctuation/formatting/etc.
counter-arguments:
I haven't written or published a fic before >> we all start somewhere!
I suck at writing >> I completely sympathize with feeling this way about your own writing, but at the same time... if writing is something you'd like to "get good" at, you have to start. you WILL improve the more you write. if you really, really don't feel good about your work, then just practice finishing works until you have a finished work you're proud of and would like to share :) If you've ever written any sort of communication someone else understood some degree of, you can write fiction too :) (yes, writing a creative story is different from writing a school paper or email, but just the practice that you wrote something that is coherent and put together) Also keep fighting against your perfectionism !!! as people always say, nothing will ever be perfect !!!! just finish stories and get out what you want to say and you're good !!!
Nobody will notice or read my stuff >> sorry for going into engagement stuff, but for the skgy/gyky tag, if you're publishing on a platform like ao3, then at least 1 person is gonna look at your fic, period. it does start getting dicey if you use other platforms like twitter (tweets get lost in the sea) or tumblr (most people left years ago) but this is what (proper) tagging is for! this is what writing communities are for (and those definitely exist in the 17 fandom)! If you've never published anything before though, then this one shouldn't stop you because you never know! Also someone IS noticing if there are people talking about the lack of new additions to the tag re: skgy/gyky
I have no good ideas >> no comment if this is due to writer's block or burnout or etc because I need advice too. But "good" ideas aren't formed immediately - usually they've gone through a lot of time simmering or drafted before the final "good" idea is fully formed. If you have even a glimmer of an idea (putting skgy/gyky in the world of a fictional series, childhood friends skgy/gyky, skgy/gyky interacting more after they had a Moment on stage or etc), just start writing and it really will just fall into place with time !!! Just do not plagiarize or use gen AI please LOL.
I'm not trying to throw a pity-party for myself, but: yes, I have art and fics that i've personally liked but didn't get the engagement i hoped they would. And I don't have online friends nor anyone IRL I feel comfortable sharing my fics/RPS stuff with so sharing my stuff truly does feel like flinging my work & time into the abyss sometimes. But at the end of the day, creating fanwork is for your own enjoyment, and/or to put ideas out there that you hope others will find interesting or are inspired by to create their own fanworks.
The first skgy/gyky fic I published was literally because I was interested in a dynamic I hadn't seen anyone else write/publish before. And I don't think I'm good at writing either, but all 5 of my published skgy/gyky fics have at least 1 kudos each - at least 1 stranger out there in the world liked my fic enough to give it a kudos rather than just exiting the tab once finished.
tl;dr if you want more content for your ship/series, YOU have the power to create !!! trust me when I say someone out there WILL read and enjoy your work !!! if you haven't written a fic before, you could even find a new regular hobby !!!

Flight Attendant Careers: Everything You Need to Know

For those with a passion for travel and a love for working with people, becoming a flight attendant can be the ideal career. The role combines adventure, customer service, and the thrill of exploring new destinations. But a flight attendant’s life goes far beyond the beautiful photos and layover snapshots. It’s a career filled with hard work, adaptability, and strong communication skills, where no two days are alike. In this blog, we’ll cover what it takes to build a successful career as a flight attendant career, from the unique demands of the job to how you can break into this high-flying profession.
Why Choose a Flight Attendant Career?

The allure of becoming a flight attendant often starts with the desire to travel and experience new cultures. Flight attendants have the unique opportunity to see the world, often with discounted flight benefits for themselves and sometimes even for family members. The job also offers flexibility and variety that’s hard to find in a traditional 9-to-5 position. With routes changing daily, flight attendants experience new destinations, meet diverse people, and create memories around the globe.
Beyond travel, the role offers a deep sense of purpose. Flight attendants ensure passenger safety and comfort, often being the first line of response in emergencies. Knowing you are trusted to handle medical situations, assist nervous flyers, and enforce safety protocols gives flight attendants a meaningful sense of responsibility and pride.
The Responsibilities and Demands of the Job
While there’s plenty of excitement, being a flight attendant is far from easy. The job is physically demanding, requiring attendants to be on their feet for long hours, often in cramped spaces. Early mornings, late nights, and weekend shifts are typical, and because airlines operate year-round, flight attendants usually work on holidays.
The work begins well before takeoff with pre-flight briefings. Flight attendants review flight details, go over safety protocols, and discuss any special needs passengers, such as unaccompanied minors or individuals requiring medical assistance. During the flight, they handle everything from serving food and beverages to managing passenger complaints, while always keeping an eye on safety.
But above all, flight attendants are trained safety professionals. In an emergency, they’re the ones responsible for guiding passengers, operating emergency exits, and providing essential care until help arrives. This responsibility makes the job rewarding but also requires a high level of emotional resilience, as flight attendants must stay calm and in control under pressure.
Essential Skills for Success
To thrive in this field, certain skills are non-negotiable:
Customer Service: Flight attendants are customer service experts, skilled at managing diverse personalities, handling complaints, and creating a welcoming environment.
Communication: Clear, calm, and confident communication is key. Whether making announcements or managing emergencies, flight attendants must be able to deliver information in a way that passengers understand and trust.
Problem-Solving: On any given day, a flight attendant might face delays, difficult passengers, or even medical emergencies. Quick thinking and sound judgment are crucial for navigating these situations.
Adaptability: The unpredictable nature of airline schedules means flight attendants must be flexible. Rescheduling, dealing with jet lag, and adjusting to new routines are all part of the job.
Teamwork: Working closely with the crew, flight attendants ensure smooth service and safety throughout the flight. Cooperation and clear communication with team members are essential.
These skills are often honed through experience in customer service roles. For those without customer service experience, volunteering or part-time work in hospitality or retail can be a great way to start.
Steps to Becoming a Flight Attendant
Meet the Basic Requirements: Most airlines require applicants to be at least 18 or 21 years old, have a high school diploma (a college degree is a bonus), and meet specific physical and health standards.
Craft a Winning Resume: Tailor your resume to emphasize your skills in customer service, teamwork, and adaptability. Include any language skills or certifications like CPR that may make you stand out.
Apply to Airlines: Look for job openings on airline websites and apply online. Be sure to research each airline’s unique hiring process, as it can vary. Some airlines conduct initial assessments, including personality tests and video interviews, before moving on to in-person interviews.
Ace the Interview: The interview process for flight attendants often includes group exercises, role-playing scenarios, and one-on-one interviews. Airlines want candidates who are personable, composed, and able to handle stressful situations.
Complete Training: After getting hired, new hires must complete rigorous training, typically lasting 4-8 weeks. This includes safety procedures, emergency protocols, medical training, and customer service basics. Passing the final assessments is essential for certification.
Begin Your Probation Period: Most airlines require new flight attendants to go through a probationary period where they work as reserves. During this period, flight attendants are on call and may not have set schedules, making it a challenging but necessary phase.
Climbing the Career Ladder
For many flight attendants, seniority is a key factor in career advancement. With seniority, flight attendants gain access to more desirable routes, flexible scheduling, and leadership positions like lead flight attendant or purser, which come with higher pay and responsibilities.
Many experienced flight attendants may also get the opportunity to work on international flights, which often come with higher pay and extended layovers in exciting cities. Specializing in business or first-class service is another way to advance, as this requires a higher level of customer service and offers additional benefits.
The Lifestyle of a Flight Attendant
Being a flight attendant is a unique lifestyle that requires adjusting to frequent travel, time zone changes, and irregular schedules. Here are some tips to maintain balance:
Rest and Recovery: Managing jet lag and sleep deprivation is essential. Many flight attendants swear by routines to keep their energy high, including healthy eating, regular exercise, and prioritizing rest whenever possible.
Stay Organized: Flight attendants often use planners and apps to manage their schedules, track flight details, and plan layovers in new cities.
Enjoy the Layovers: Although layovers vary in duration, they offer the chance to explore new places. Many flight attendants use layovers to immerse themselves in local culture, which can be one of the most rewarding aspects of the job.
Pros and Cons of a Flight Attendant Career
Being a flight attendant has its share of highs and lows. On the plus side, it’s an adventurous career that offers travel opportunities, camaraderie, and a sense of purpose. Flight attendants meet people from all over the world, create lasting friendships with crew members, and gain valuable life skills in communication and problem-solving.
However, the job can be physically and emotionally demanding. Irregular schedules, long hours, and being away from family and friends are common challenges. It requires a great deal of flexibility, patience, and resilience to adapt to the lifestyle.
Is It the Right Career for You?
Becoming a flight attendant is perfect for those who crave travel, thrive in dynamic settings, and enjoy helping others. It’s not for everyone, but those who love it find the work immensely rewarding. As you consider this career path, think about whether you enjoy engaging with new people daily, handling high-stress situations calmly, and working on a flexible schedule.
Conclusion: Reaching for the Skies
A flight attendant career is unlike any other, offering a chance to see the world, develop strong customer service skills, and be part of an ever-evolving industry. It’s a lifestyle filled with unique challenges but equally unique rewards. If you’re ready to embrace an adventurous, fulfilling career and bring positivity and professionalism to every flight, a career as a flight attendant could be the perfect fit.

“you can’t tell me what to do.” (Jamie/Carol)
reverse jealous / possessive meme - @aerospectrum
NO LONGER ACCEPTING!
“you can’t tell me what to do.”
Carol had been apprehensive about their relationship changing since she had returned to Alexandria and brought him with her. She and Jamie had gotten close out in the wild with it being just the two of them. They had learned to rely on one another. It wasn't easy for her to trust strangers anymore, and it had taken weeks for her to let him in. And now that she'd introduced him to the people in Alexandria, he was like the shiny new toy. "We should probably head home. It's getting late."
Truth was, Carol wanted him away from one of the other newcomers that had only been in Alexandria for a couple months. The lady tried to attach herself to every available man that came through the community, and Carol didn't trust her.
Jamie was enjoying the music and small talk of the get-together that they'd thrown to welcome him, and he wasn't ready to head back to her place for the night. Truth was, he wasn't tired, and it had been a long time since people had so easily accepted him. "You can't tell me what to do." Those weren't the words that he meant to say, but he could tell from the look on her face that they were most definitely the wrong ones to have said.
Carol nodded, letting her lips fall into a straight line before she turned on heels and left him standing there. She had seen the look in his eyes change after he'd spoken so she knew that he knew he'd fucked up. He was right. She couldn't tell him what to do. She wasn't his mother. So she'd leave him to enjoying his night. It wasn't as if she had any real claim over him. The sharp stab of pain that she felt deep in her heart was something she hadn't felt in a long time. She didn't look at anyone else as she moved through the room and exited the building to head home.
------
She barely made it to her small front porch before her legs started to tremble. The emotion had taken over her. She wasn't a jealous person, but she was damn certain that was the feeling she'd been experiencing when she watched the younger woman stand close to him and talk and touch his arm as she smiled and laughed at all the right moments. She hated it.
She moved up the steps, forcing herself to fumble with the door knob as she tried to push all thoughts of Jamie Dutton out of her mind. He wasn't hers. She had no claim on him, and the sooner she got that through her head, the better off she'd be.
Jamie had been right behind her almost every step of the way since she'd left the party. He reached for her elbow as she managed to turn the door knob. He pulled her back against his front. "I didn't mean it the way it sounded." His hand moved from her elbow to snake around her waist as he held her there. His mouth and nose were close to her ear, panting softly from the exurtion of having to almost run to catch up to her.
She wanted so badly to push him away, but the way he made her feel had been the only thing keeping her going out there. Her body relaxed, leaning heavily against him. "Then why did you say it?"
He slowlly turned her to face him. He had no words to explain why he'd said it, but he knew that he'd never make that mistake again. She mattered to him. Sure, it had felt good to have the young, beautiful woman interested in him, but he could see right through that for what it was. She was wanting someone to protect her. The only person Jamie wanted to protect was Carol.
His hand moved to her cheek, stroking it gently before he leaned in and pressed their foreheads together. "We both know I'm not that smart when it comes to women."
She then melted into his arms, wrapping her arms around him as her head tucked against his shoulder and neck. She nodded. "You are pretty stupid sometimes," she teased.

Managing Erectile Dysfunction with Silditop 100: A Comprehensive Approach
Dealing with the challenges of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) can be a daunting task, affecting not just a man's physical health, but also his emotional well-being and relationships. The good news is, you're not alone in this journey. In this article, we'll delve into a comprehensive approach to managing ED with a game-changer called Silditop 100. Let's embark on a path to rediscovering intimacy and vitality.
Understanding Erectile Dysfunction
Before we dive into solutions, let's demystify Erectile Dysfunction. ED isn't just a physical hiccup; it's like a complicated puzzle with psychological and physiological pieces. It can stem from stress, anxiety, or even an underlying medical condition like diabetes or hypertension. The numbers might surprise you – ED affects a significant chunk of men, impacting their self-esteem and relationships.
Silditop 100: Mechanism of Action
Enter Silditop 100, your potential ally in this battle. But how does it work its magic? Silditop 100 is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, a fancy term that essentially means it boosts blood flow where it matters most. By relaxing those blood vessels in the right places, it helps you achieve and maintain an erection that's ready for action. Think of it as your secret weapon, ready to revitalize your confidence and performance.
Comprehensive Approach to Managing ED with Silditop 100
Picture this: a well-thought-out strategy that tackles ED from all angles. Step one – consult a healthcare pro. This isn't a battle you need to fight solo. They'll run tests, decode the potential causes, and map out your personalized plan of attack. Silditop 100 has its role, but it's just one part of the story. Lifestyle tweaks come into play – a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress reduction can boost your battle readiness.
But wait, there's more! If underlying health issues are in the mix, let's address those too. Hypertension or diabetes, you're on notice! Psychological support is like armor – therapy or counseling can help you face the mental hurdles. And here's a novel idea – bring your partner onboard. Communication is key; a united front makes a formidable team.
Keep tabs on progress, stay connected with your healthcare provider, and be ready to adapt. This is a journey, and sometimes the path may need a tweak. Remember, it's not just about the destination; it's about reclaiming the experience along the way.
Potential Challenges and Considerations
As with any mission, challenges may arise. Silditop 100, while often effective, might not be everyone's cup of tea. Individual responses vary, and there could be interactions with other medications. Setting realistic expectations and addressing concerns head-on can smooth the ride.
Alternative Treatment Options
Silditop 100 is a star, but there's an ensemble cast of erectile dysfunction treatments. From other oral medications to injections and devices, each has its role to play. Discuss with your healthcare provider to find the best fit for you. It's like choosing the right tool for the job – a personalized approach for a personalized issue.
Lifestyle and Preventive Measures
Now, let's talk prevention. Just like maintaining a car can prevent breakdowns, a healthy lifestyle can lower your ED risk. Watch your diet – nutrients like antioxidants, Omega-3 fatty acids, and whole grains can boost blood flow. Exercise isn't just for your muscles; it keeps your blood vessels in top shape too. And stress? Show it the exit door. Meditation, yoga, or even a hobby can do wonders.
Conclusion
ED might be a tough opponent, but remember, you're tougher. Armed with Silditop 100 and a comprehensive approach, you're not just managing ED – you're reclaiming your vitality. Consult your healthcare provider, personalize your strategy, embrace lifestyle changes, and involve your partner. This isn't just a battle; it's a journey towards renewed intimacy and a more fulfilling life. Here's to embracing the future with confidence, one step at a time.

Sometimes We Get What We Deserve
AO3 Link
She doesn’t look how Jack expects.
She’s tall, for one. Jack’s not. But then, she was fed so many experimental diets as a kid, so many whacked-out theories about whether high protein or fasting or which micronutrients would enhance her biotics, and then there were the hunger strikes and how she learned to make herself throw up on the scientists as one of the few options for getting even—well, it wouldn’t shock anyone if it stunted her growth. But still, she’s tall, this woman sitting in the docking bay. She’s going to be looking down at Jack when they talk. Unless Jack sits down, too, so she stays sitting, and then they’ll both be sitting down and that’ll make it worse if Jack bolts. Jack’s the type who always wants an exit strategy.
Her hair’s brown and cut in a tight cap. Everything about her seems tight, closed-off, wary. Jack respects that even as her stomach flops over the littlest bit in recognition. Green eyes. Freckles, everywhere. Thin mouth with a coating of nude lipstick. Jack touches her own bright red lips, and then drops her hand, angry. She loves the way she looks. She loves that it scares people, better armor than anything Hahn-Kedar ever produced, loves how it tells her story in a way only the people she wants to read it can understand. But she’s self-conscious now. Angry to be worried what this woman will think, angry that she wants, desperately, for her to like her.
Angry that she’s been standing here ten minutes studying her face to avoid looking at her hands, which are twisted around a small rainbow quilt in her lap. Jennie embroidered on the corner.
Jack’s not Jennie. And she’s angry because it’s better than being scared that this woman will need her to be.
Finding her wasn’t simple, not with the war on and communication in tatters across the galaxy. Jack had done all the legwork herself. Just like she always did everything herself. A little private project to distract her from how her kids kept getting hurt, ignoring that it was those kids who made her start in the first place. That and those Shadow Broker files Shepard silently passed her way. Fuck Shepard, anyway.
That’s when Jack almost walks out. But nobody, not the fucking Cerberus scientists, not the prison guards, not any of the people who tried to subjugate or use her up along the way, none of them ever got to tell Jack she was too scared or too helpless. She doesn’t even get to tell herself that. So she squares her shoulders and walks across the concourse.
All she told her was new information had come to light concerning her daughter’s death. She wasn’t sure she’d even show up, not for a baby dead since she was three years old. She sure as hell didn’t expect the goddamn blanket. Maybe Jack will just leave it at that—tell her she died in Cerberus custody as a child. Because maybe that blanket means she’s not strong enough, not like Jack is.
But the choice is taken from her. As she comes into her line of sight, their eyes meet. Just for a moment. And this woman—this stranger clutching a twenty-year-old handmade quilt that says Jennie—leaps to her feet and screams. And Jack goes rigid with terror.
And that only makes it worse, fear feeding on fear, because she doesn’t freeze. She always, always acts. But she’s paralyzed. And that woman screams like her life is getting sucked out through her toes and everyone in the concourse turns to stare and Jack can’t move.
Out of the corner of her eye, some opportunistic bystander pops open an omni-tool, recording the drama in hopes of cheap hits on the extranet. Jack wants to break his arm. That feeling is normal, familiar, and she wants to feel normal like lungs want oxygen, so she turns her head and so the woman with the blanket gets inside her personal space before she can do anything about it. Her fists light up blue without any conscious intent.
But her hands, this woman with the freckles and baby blanket, her baby blanket, clutched under her arm—her hands are lifted to Jack’s face, hovering over her skin in little grasping twitches, like she knows she can’t touch her and it’s just killing her, every second, but she doesn’t touch. Her eyes looking down at her are crazy. Jack recognizes that, too, in the same way as a singularity opening in the next room sends skitters down her nerves like ants.
Every instinct she has is ringing alarm bells at top volume. If she calls her Jennie, she’s going to punch her—
Then her mother says, voice breaking, hands cupping the air around her cheeks— “Your dad had tattoos, too.”
And Jack breaks. Her face falls into her mother’s shoulder like it remembers exactly what to do, and her shoulders heave, and her mother’s arms are around her and her cheek is in the strip of ponytail on top of her head, and for a moment, the woman who never had a childhood gets to be a little girl.

contains- plain angst, privilege snooty kids, poor communication, sweet and comforting ending (like y'all know gotta go your own way in hsm. its like that. mwah)
word count- 1k
masterlist | blurb requests open! (nsfw + fluff)
Ironically, it was stressful dating a celebrity (especially one you grew up with from the start). It wasn't only hard to watch the man you love taking on the fame but adjusting to what felt like a new lifestyle.
Sometimes, you wish you could flashback to regular nights without the constant paranoia that a camera was over your shoulder or some celebrity friend would call last minute about a party invite. As exciting as it was for Tom, he didn't realize it had taken a toll on you as well and you'd reach your limit tonight.
The night started out glamorous and grand because Tom's new friends asked him to come to a new bar, supposedly it's going to take off and all so, Tom should pay his mind to it. Suggesting that he could stay in with you after his long day on set, he insisted on going still.
Now, you didn't have a problem with him wanting to do what he wants, you loved going out together, but the people he surrounded himself with weren't favorable. They were loud, entitled, and fresh to Hollywood, coming off as snooty, although you admitted it could be that this is just new to you and you weren't around your "normal" friends.
As much as you wanted to keep on a smile the whole night, it became harder with every word you had to listen to. Tom was having fun, at least to your eyes he was, extending his overtired feeling just to socialize, but you didn't understand most of the conversations since they were clearly about acting.
Just as you wanted to start a new conversation, Angela, his co-star, drunkenly giggled as she asked what you were working on. When answering that you weren't an actor, she acted as if you were a nerd joining the cool kids' table. There was something so condescending about her answer that it boiled your blood.
"I'm gonna go." You blatantly said, not taking the treatment. You tossed your napkin on your chair before leaving toward the exit.
Tom quickly got up, following right behind you and he gently grabbed your wrist right when you got past the entrance, "Where are you going?"
"Home, or back to the apartment." You spat, pulling your arm back.
"Why? We were having a good time-"
"You. You were having a good time. Those people are awful, and I don't care what you say, I just won't take that." You tell him, wanting to scoff at his ignorance.
"C'mon, you're being a bit dramatic." He stated.
"Dramatic? You're all dramatic. Laughing about your camera angles and exposé... whatever that is. You guys sound a bit insufferable. This isn't like you at all."
A few people passing stared at you two arguing so, Tom guided you toward the alley where you could get more privacy and could only hope no one was taking a video or picture.
"Y/N-"
"No, I'm not gonna stay. Frankly, I don't want to be here. I was hoping we got to go back to London and just... feel normal for a few days, but you insisted on hanging out with these kinds of people who hurt my feelings for not being famous. When's the last time you called your friends anyways? It's like... you're a different person."
Tom, offended, rolled his eyes at your comment, "Okay, let's just settle this in the morning and just put on a nice smile and go back in there."
"No, I just can't be here right now." You said, and he pulled back.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means I wanna leave. Are you coming with me or not?" You ask him as if it was a question, but his hesitation with silence following didn't comfort you, "Tom?"
He clenched his jaw, his heart thudding against his chest, "No, I'm not leaving."
You scoff, "Then don't bother coming back if you want to sit around with a bunch of people who only care about your career and not you."
After you turned around to head to the apartment, Tom gulped as he wanted to mutter your name. He so badly could give in, saying he's sorry and that he loved you, but he was so angry that he didn't want to speak it out of a place it shouldn't come from the unsettling stress he felt. It wasn't fair to make him choose, but at the same time, it seemed like a no-brainer. You didn't want to lose each other. Just as he wanted to say "i love you" across the street, you did too, but instead, you two went your separate ways.
- ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
In the morning, Tom's eyes ached as if someone punched him deep in his sockets. The dryness under his eyes was unbearable and he only felt pain in his neck and back from how uncomfortable his friend's couch was all night.
You weren't doing so hot either. Leaning over the bed to avoid the pillow and sheets where his cologne lingered, constantly replaying the moment in your head and wishing you hadn't made him choose. You were emotional but so cruel to him with less than a valid explanation.
Both of you fucked up, and it had to be said.
Just as you reached for your phone, there was a knock at the door. As you rolled out of bed, feeling like you were coming down from a cold, you went to the front door and opened it to see Tom standing there with tired, red eyes.
"About last night-"
"No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry." You told him.
He nodded, "I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have just left you... especially without saying 'I love you'." Tom gulped.
"Me too..." You trailed, "Me too."
Without hesitating, the two of you embraced a tight hug as if you'd been apart for years. It wasn't the worst fight you had, but one that you decided to leave each other's sides after vowing to never do that to one another.
"I love you so much." He said against your ear, still hugging you.
"I love you so much too." You whimpered.
He kissed your forehead, not letting you go to make up for the time you were apart. Dramatic as it seemed, you both realized how much you truly adored each other and how special your love was.

"I was quick to want the world rid of its fools an hour ago, I forget sometimes how much an exemplar I am among them." "That’s not how I see you."
A fanmix about James Fitzjames and Francis Crozier from AMC’s The Terror. Chronological and mostly canon compliant.
Listen on Spotify
Keep reading for songs and motivations.
1. All The Old Showstoppers - The New Pornographers
"When John he saw the numbers he lied, made up the whole thing, failed when he tried" This song is about responsibility, good intentions, and failure. It feels like a good place to start. Also, (Sir) John sure did fail when he tried.
2. Get Famous - The Mountain Goats
"You’ve been waiting for this, ever since you’ve been young, be careful not to choke on your tongue" This song will always be JFJ's theme song to me. The tone of it also fits in with the "tell us about bird shit island, why don't you, James" energy.
3. French Exit - The Antlers
"I’m not a puppy you take home, don’t bother trying to fix my heart" Now, this one is about fighting. It's about the "there hasn't been a single meal we've shared, a single conversation, when you weren't morbing on about what you're due." It's about the "keep your pity."
4. Victorian Ice - Sea Power
"And you better keep moving before you get totally cold" They're victorians, on ice. That's all the motivation you need. Also the song is about communication issues and needing each other, so... I rest my case.
5. Not Dead Yet - Lord Huron
"You’re tired of me, I’m tired of you" This song is about self-hatred and alcoholism. But it's also about not being dead yet, so there's... hope? Maybe?
6. The Counterfeiter - Crooked Fingers
"You don’t belong here, your heart’s a fake, the ghosts who chose you were mistaken" James has imposter syndrome, part one.
7. Someone You’d Admire - Fleet Foxes
"One of them wants only to be someone you’d admire, one would as soon just throw you on the fire" Sometimes it's hard to change, and even harder to know whether you want to impress someone, or still hate their guts. I feel like this goes for both of them.
8. Straight and Tall - Iron & Wine
"Don’t tell me all the shit you’ve done, how you push your luck with everyone, ‘cause your mean upbringing’s left you a mess" James has imposter syndrome, part two, but this time Francis goes "that's not how I see you".
9. Your Rocky Spine - Great Lake Swimmers
"I was moving across your frozen veneer, the sky was dark but you were clear" Listen, it's about the metaphors. I can't explain it to you, it's just the vibes.
10. I’ll Be Your Girl - The Decemberists
"I could be your man, but I’d be that much more" It's gender time. Reading way too much into the dress scene is something that can be so personal.
11. After Those Who Mean It - Laura Stevenson
"It’s as if you knew me, and even though it’s briefly, and though it’s not completely, I can feel you reading, reading me to sleep" This song is about persevering, even though you know it's all coming to an end. It's sad hours, and I'm afraid it's all downhill from here.
12. Colder Heavens - Blanco White
"Here I stand undressed, here I confess my doubt, did you know that I would?" The mortifying ordeal of being known, and also being hunted by a monster bear, and also there's a mutiny. That's not what the song is actually about, but it has the vibes.
13. Lucky Man - Emerson, Lake & Palmer
"He went to fight wars for his country and king, of his honour and his glory the people would sing" Something something "there will be poems". This song is the poem.
14. I Will - Mitski
"And while you sleep I’ll be scared, so by the time you wake I’ll be brave" I feel like I don't have to explain myself with this one, but I do have tissues if you need them. I did warn you it's sad hours.
15. The Pugilist - Keaton Henson
"But the truth is I need you to tell me I’m worthy of all this great living that I’ve been doing" James has imposter syndrome, part three, but now he's also dying.
16. Artifact #1 - Conor Oberst
"The world is full of missing persons, all of these unsolved mysteries" James is still dying. Francis is feeling... not great about it.
17. Genesis 30:3 - The Mountain Goats
"I will do what you ask me to do, because of how I feel about you" This is the song that made me start this fanmix. Imagine someone you love asking you to kill them. Imagine being unable to deny them anything. Remember when I said you could have my tissues? I take it back, I need them myself now, thanks.
18. Another New World - Josh Ritter
"I won’t call it rescue what brought me here back to the old world to drink and decline, and to pretend that the search for another new world was well worth the burning of mine" This song is about an arctic explorer surviving, but at much too great a cost. Perfect theme song for Final Girl Francis. It's also extremely long, so you have time to get all those tears out before moving on with your life. Thank you for listening.
